Fed Square will transform into a literary lover’s haven for this year Melbourne Writers Festival from Saturday 25 August to Sunday 2 September.
The dreamy duet series at ACMI includes some of Melbourne most loved musicians. As they take to the stage, musicians including Paul Dempsey, Kate Cebrano, KAIIT, Alice Skye, Mojo Juju and many more, will reveal what inspires them, what challenges them and what moves them to make the music they do.
Deakin Edge will also host a series of great literary minds over the festival.
Audiences can join ferociously funny Melburnian, Judith Lucy for A Toast: Judith Lucy’s Dream Dinner Party, where Judith explores the topic of death with her specially selected guests Rachel Berger, Ash Flanders, Karen Hitchcock and Mariam Issa.
Internationally renowned author Irvine Welsh will be in conversation with Malaysian-Australian rapper, poet and author Omar Musa. For Redemption (link to event page), these two revered writers will contemplate if artists have a responsibility to say sorry for their art, social or personal misdemeanours before seeking redemption.
Other events at Fed Square include:
Magda Szubanski (Second Last Rites: Magda’s Funeral)
Neko Case: This Tornado Loves You
The Eye of the Storm: The Power of Patrick White
