Nomination for National Heritage Register

On January, 20, 2019 , Federation Square was nominated for the Victorian Heritage Register. Heritage Victoria has accepted the nomination for assessment and applied an interim protection order to the precinct. Exemptions have been granted by Heritage Victoria for some works across the precinct including the Melbourne Metro Tunnel site at Fed Square.

Current Permit Applications:
Redevelop part of Federation Square including demolition of the Yarra Building, new 11.5m high replacement building, public realm upwards works and signage (https://www.heritage.vic.gov.au/permits/currently-advertised-permits).
