School holidays are back again from 23 September until 8 October and we have plenty of fun activities for the whole family happening across Fed Square. From Disney nature films to historic art exhibitions and live entertainment, there’s no doubt the kids will come away with stories to tell their friends.
Wallace & Gromit and Friends – until 29 October
Explore the miniature worlds of these beloved Aardman characters at ACMI. From sketches and models through to elaborate sets there are 350 objects from Aardman’s most amazing animations to explore.
The Massive Minecraft Movie – 6 October
This ACMI workshop allows the kids to work as a team to design characters and a unique world, and direct a scene in their own Minecraft movie.
Fringe Festival – 23 September
There’s so much happening across the Fringe Festival program (14 Sep-1 Oct), including several events that will be held here at Fed Square. On the 23 September, come to the Main Square to see Spotlight Stage, which gives the audience a glimpse of some of the Fringe Festival highlights.
Every Brilliant Eye – until 1 October
This could be your last chance to see this free exhibition at the NGV. Every Brilliant Eye showcases art made from 1990 to 2000 and include various forms including video, installation, photography, painting, sculpture, drawing, fashion and design. The kids will love a look back at this colourful and exciting time in the art world.
Disney Nature Films – 23 September – 8 October
ACMI will be screening some of Disney’s finest animal documentaries throughout the school holidays. Bring the kids and watch stunning stories of pandas, butterflies and monkeys with narration by some of Hollywood’s elite.
Prehistoric VR – 23 September – 8 October
Explore the depths of the ocean 200 million years ago in an ACMI commission by internationally renowned makers of large-scale puppetry experiences, Visual & Physical Inc and award winning visual artist and filmmaker, Samantha Lang. This virtual reality experience will leave kids big and small enthralled with the mysteries of the deep blue.
